Hunting the Virtual Ana Elisa

When I searched for Ana Elisa Gil on Google I got many results of the actual Ana I was looking for and all from different websites, such as Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter, Genealogy and also on the IE website. The first result was actually from her Linkedin, and that’s maybe because she has lots of information on her page. For all I know about Ana, she is very focused on work and very goal oriented, and I think this is well expressed on all the information she has regarding her professional life on Linkedin.
Regarding her Facebook account, I think she also appears to be very professional and passes the idea that she has an active social life, with no compromising photos (which sometimes may not be well accepted by companies).
Also, I find very important the fact that when I searched Ana’s name I got a result directing to IE Business School, more specifically to the IE Net Impact Club. This only reinforces the professional image that Ana passes to the virtual world and gives a sense of commitment and responsibility.

In general I think that Ana passes a good image of her on the virtual world and makes a good connection between her social and professional life.
The only thing I would recommend Ana to do is to put more information about her hobbies. Most headhunters search not only for the professional side of a person’s life, but also for other kind of information such as if that person plays any sports or does any other activities. Since Ana Elisa makes part of IE’s soccer team I would recommend putting that on her profile, since it would show that she is capable of working in team and respecting others.

If I was a headhunter I would definitely take a good look on Ana’s profile and would want to enter in contact with her!

Who Owns a Twitter Account?

Twitter is a very useful tool nowadays and it's gaining huge usage, as it allows people to choose profiles to “follow” and get updated of everything posted on those same profiles. This way, its utility traduces in following real time information, making it different and creating more value to other social networks, such as Facebook or Orkut, which major utility is to interact with friends.

Usually Twitter can be created by single individuals, companies or even by media (single journalists, press, etc.), and it can have several types of uses, according to what the user wants it for. In fact, these types of users can be divided within "meformers" (accounting nearly 80%) or "informers" (the rest 20%).The first group includes mainly single individuals who main purpose is to post things related to their social lives, feelings, emotions, or immediate location and activity; on the opposite, "informers" include companies or media agents, and usually these users differentiate themselves from the others in the sense that they have a larger social network and are more interactive.
Regarding the use itself, the first group creates an account in this platform just to express themselves, to feel good. "Informers", on the other hand include a more complex type of use: as it includes mostly companies, it is sometimes hard to understand or define under to which extent the Tweets belong to the single employee who writes them or to the company for which the employee works for.

Some cases:
1. An employee may use a Twitter account to show the job he’s been doing for a company, and in this case the Tweets belong to the employee himself;
2. The employee can also make Tweets in his name but under his company guide, so in this case the Tweets belong to the company and the employee has to follow the company’s rules and guidelines.

So, for an employee it is very useful to use Twitter as he can share his work and gather a group of followers that will be aware of his job for a certain company. In this sense, an employee can create a bond with his followers and gather a group of persons interested in the same things and may even start to create a professional relationship with them. To the company this social network tool can be used to create a bond between itself and the customer, to inform about novelties, or even to sell.
Twitter can also be used in some creative ways:
-avoiding traffic jam, where someone who's following his city's feed can get follow updates of real time traffic by people stuck in traffic;
-it can also be used as way for doctors to remind their patients of appointments in the previous day or even 15 minutes before.

Hence there are different types of Twitter users and it can be used either to improve personal life or to improve a business performance.
